The South East Central Railway’s Bilaspur Division (Electrical) has announced a tender for the installation of 1.88 MW rooftop solar systems across service buildings, station buildings, and residences in Chhattisgarh. The project will be executed in CAPEX mode. This comes at a time when the Indian Railways is working towards decarbonising its operations and boosting is renewable capacities.

The last date to submit the bid is September 24, 24024. The bidder will have to deposit an earnest money deposit of ₹591,700. The selected bidder will also need to provide a security deposit equivalent to 5 per cent of the contract value. The timeline for the project completion is 12 months.

Eligibility criteria require bidders to have completed at least one of the following within the last seven years:

  • Three similar projects, each worth at least 30% of the tender value
  • Two similar projects, each costing a minimum of 40% of the tender value
  • One similar project valued at 60% or more of the tender amount

Additionally, bidders must submit work experience certificates issued by a government organization or a public listed company with an average annual turnover of ₹5 billion or more over the past three financial years.

Earlier, the Raipur Division of the South East Central Railway also invited bids for the state-wise empanelment of agencies to execute grid-connected rooftop solar projects of 1.165 MW at its yards and workshops through a public-private partnership (PPP) model. This follows a similar tender issued in August for 1.020 MW rooftop solar projects across the division.

These initiatives are part of the Indian Railways’ broader goal to expand renewable energy infrastructure and reduce its carbon footprint.
