With A Focus On TOPCon, Cosmic PV Eyes 3 GW Capacity Soon By Manish Kumar/ Updated On Fri, Feb 21st, 2025 With A Focus On TOPCon, Cosmic PV Eyes 3 GW Capacity Soon Surat-based solar module manufacturer Cosmic PV Power is set to expand its cumulative solar module manufacturing capacity to 3 GW shortly. The company’s top management told Saur Energy that its proposed 1,600 MW TOPCon cell-based module plant is expected to become operational in the first quarter of FY26. Shravan Gupta, Managing Director (MD) of Cosmic PV Power, shared that the growing demand for TOPCon modules is driving the company to enhance its production capacity to meet market needs. Current Manufacturing Capacity The company currently operates two manufacturing plants in Surat— ✅ 600 MW Mono-PERC solar module production line ✅ 800 MW TOPCon solar module facility This brings Cosmic PV Power’s total operational capacity to 1.4 GW. “We are now planning to expand our capacity by an additional 1.6 GW. The new units are set to launch towards the end of the first quarter this year, and we have already procured the necessary equipment. Production is expected to begin within the next four months, taking our total capacity to 3 GW,” Gupta told Saur Energy on the sidelines of Inter Solar Gandhinagar. Market Trends & Transition to TOPCon Gupta highlighted that the solar market is shifting towards TOPCon technology, with demand steadily rising. He further indicated that by H2 of FY26, the company might replace some of its Mono-PERC production lines with TOPCon to align with market trends. “The solar market is undergoing a transformation, with Mono-PERC gradually being phased out in favor of TOPCon technology. By next year, TOPCon is expected to dominate the Indian solar market, while demand for Mono-PERC will decline,” he noted. OEM Partnerships & Market Position Over the years, Cosmic PV Power has emerged as one of the most trusted OEM brands in the Indian solar industry, currently serving around 25 clients with repeat orders. “As an OEM manufacturer for major brands, we collaborate with firms that have stringent quality control mechanisms. These companies conduct multiple quality inspections at our facilities, ensuring high product standards. The consistent satisfaction of our OEM partners has led to multiple repeat orders. Currently, we partner with more than 25 brands, positioning ourselves as a leading OEM player in the industry,” Gupta added. Production & Future Plans Gupta confirmed that Cosmic PV Power’s TOPCon production capacity is already fully booked for the next financial year, with multiple confirmed orders. Meanwhile, its Mono-PERC capacity is fully booked for the next two quarters and is expected to be completely booked for the entire financial year soon. “Given the ongoing market shift, we are also planning to convert some of our Mono-PERC production lines into TOPCon,” he said. Vertical Integration – Cosmic Green Tech To further strengthen its supply chain, Cosmic PV Power has launched Cosmic Green Tech, its aluminum manufacturing subsidiary, to produce aluminum frames for solar modules. Jenish Ghael, Director of Cosmic PV Power told Saur Energy that the firm is also taking steps to expedite order deliveries. “We are using Artificial Intelligence, robotic services and other advanced technologies not only to expedite our deliveries and ensure clients’ confidence on us but these technologies also allow us to minimise defects in overall production of solar modules produced at our end,” Ghael said.
