Warehouse rooftops to generate solar power in Telangana By Saur News Bureau/ Updated On Wed, Mar 23rd, 2016 The Telangana government is encouraging solar power generation from rooftop of more than 330 new warehouses across the state. Almost half the number of new warehouses is expected to be ready by next month, while remaining will be ready by July this year said T. Harish Rao Minister for Irrigation and Marketing at Legislative Assembly. The Telangana government is in talk with Rural Electrification Corporation (REC) and other organizations to install solar panels on rooftop of warehouses, which is expected to generate 50 megawatt of solar power. The solar power generated by rooftops will be used for maintenance of the warehouses. When asked about the status of warehouse construction in the assembly Rao said a total capacity of 6.85 lakh metric tons will be released in the first phase and 10.225 metric tons in the second.
