Waaree Energies Starts Trial Production Of Modules From Its US Plant

Solar module manufacturer Waaree Energies today announced producing its first solar module from its United States (US) manufacturing unit. The full-fledged production from the center is however is likely to start from February 2025. It also said that it has now started its trial production from its US plant.

“This is to inform you that Waaree Solar Americas Inc. wholly owned subsidiary of the Company, has today started its trial production of 1.6 GW Solar Module line at its Unit situated at Brookshire, in the state of Texas, USA,” the firm said in its filing before the exchanges.

“We are thrilled to announce that Waaree Solar Americas has produced its first PV module at our new facility in Brookshire, Texas! This milestone marks a significant moment as we become the first Indian company to establish a Solar PV module manufacturing base in the U.S. With the support of the Indian Consul General in Houston Mr. D C Manjunath, we celebrated this moment with a traditional ceremony, signifying our commitment to the global clean energy transition,” the Waaree Solar Americas Inc said in a social media post.

Officials from Waaree Energies from India were also seen celebrating the maiden production of its solar product from its offshore plant. “At Waaree, we take pride in our global manufacturing capabilities and technological expertise, which are essential in building a sustainable and energy-independent future. Our reliable and efficient solar products are supported by the latest advancements in technology. We believe that diversity and inclusivity are vital to innovation and success, and our workforce truly reflects this commitment. Together, we are paving the way for a greener tomorrow,” Waaree Energies said.

Waaree Solar Americas Inc is a wholly owned subsidiary of Waaree Energies Ltd. The Waaree Group has earlier planned to set up its solar module manufacturing unit in the US to harness the benefits under the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). With this, the firm became one of the few Indian solar makers to venture into the US market. Earlier, Navitas Solar, Vikram Solar and others have announced plans to invest in the country in manufacturing.

On the other hand, Waaree Energies also emerged as one of the leading companies in exporting its solar modules to the US market. The imposition of duties against solar products from China gave India an added advantage for the US market.
