Waaree Solar Americas Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Waaree Energies Ltd has announced the commencement of commercial production of solar modules at its advanced manufacturing facility in Brookshire, Texas. The unit boasts a capacity of 1.6 GW.

With the facility now fully operational, Waaree Solar Americas is set to produce solar photovoltaic (PV) modules to meet the growing demand for renewable energy solutions across the region. The launch of commercial production marks a critical step in localizing solar manufacturing in the United States, contributing to job creation and economic growth while reducing reliance on imported solar products, the firm said.

A new beginning for the Indian firm

Sunil Rathi, President of Waaree Solar Americas Inc., stated, “The start of commercial production at our Brookshire facility is a milestone achievement for Waaree. This initiative not only enhances local manufacturing capabilities but also aligns with our mission to make solar energy more accessible and sustainable. We are committed to delivering innovative solar solutions that meet the highest standards of quality and efficiency.”

As production ramps up, Waaree aims to play a crucial role in advancing America’s clean energy goals, ensuring that its products support sustainability and energy independence, it said.

Waaree’s Entry In US Solar Market

Waaree’s entry into the US market has now new vaults for the company to expand its production capacity beyond India. Besides, Waaree Energies other companies like Vikram Solar, Navitas and other companies have also planned to open up their new manufacturing units in the United States. Many companies, however, were waiting for the appointment of Donald Trump as the new President and better clarity on his stance on the benefits of the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) and tariffs on solar imports. Waaree’s early starting as an Indian solar module maker in US soil is likely to give a better insight on the performance of Indian firms in the US before others jump onto the bandwagon.

In India, Waaree Energies has become one of the leading solar module manufacturers with a total capacity of around 13 GW. It also has two other verticals-Waaree Renewable technologies (for EPC) and Waaree technologies (for energy storage). It has now also forayed into solar cell manufacturing and all set to start production of wafers and ingots from its new upcoming integrated plant in Odisha’s Dhenkanal district.
