Vibrant Energy Strengthens Top Tier With Vinay Pabba As COO

Solar developer Vibrant Energy, a strong name in the C&I segment where it has pushed its opex model, has strengthened its senior management team.

Backed by Macquarie Group, Vibrant Energy will look to  Pabba as COO to grow and manage its portfolio of projects better. Pabba, an IIT Madras and XLRI Jamshedpur Alumni, is a renewable industry veteran with a history of association with assets of close to 3GW in Solar & Wind. He has held leadership roles in leading renewable energy platforms in India with the most recent stints being at Brookfield Asset Management & Greenko Group. He is also the founder of VARP Power and a Director on the Board of Virescent Infrastructure.

Blue Leaf Energy Asia Pte Ltd (Blueleaf Energy) had acquired a majority stake in Vibrant Energy Holdings Pte Ltd (Vibrant Energy) from ATN International, Inc (ATN) in November 2020. Blue leaf is owned by Macquarie’s Green Investment Group (GIG). Vibrant’s website indicates over 800 MW of solar and wind projects under development currently.

During prior stints with EPC companies in Transmission and Distribution, he has executed large-format transmission and distribution projects in India & Africa. He has experience across the Power Value chain (Generation, Transmission, and Distribution).

Pabba considers power management of large and complex power and water projects his forte.

Pabba’s addition to the top tier at Vibrant follows similar strengthening being witnessed across the spectrum of firms in the independent, privately owned power sector, especially in renewable energy and linked to it, EV charging and more.

Until now, the firm has been led by Srini Viswanathan as CEO and Managing Director, with his own background in investment banking with a focus on the renewable sector. Pabba thus brings operational heft to the firm, which should stand it in good stead as it seeks to expand more aggressively in the coming period.
