Vestas Secures 249 MW Order From EDF Renewables For Texas Wind Project

Vestas will supply its V120-2.2 MW turbines for the 273 MW project. The full project size includes previously purchased 2 MW Vestas PTC components.

Denmark-based wind energy major, Vestas has bagged an order from EDF Renewables for supplying 249 MW of turbines for the Las Majadas wind project in Texas.

Vestas will supply its V120-2.2 MW turbines for the 273 MW project. The full project size includes previously purchased 2 MW Vestas PTC components.

“The execution of the Las Majadas Turbine Supply Agreement is a reflection of the continued growth of the long-standing partnership between Vestas and EDF Renewables in North America. The selection of the Vestas V120-2.2 turbine provides the best possible LCoE for the project, ensuring EDF Renewables delivers a competitive project to its customers”, said Art Del Rio, Vice President of Wind Technology Strategy at EDF Renewables North America.

The order includes supply and commissioning of the turbines as well as a 5-year Active Output Management (AOM 5000) service agreement, designed to ensure optimised performance for the lifetime of the project. Turbine delivery will begin in the second quarter of 2020 with commissioning scheduled for the third quarter of 2020.

Recently, the company bagged orders worth 687 MW for three wind projects from PacifiCorp, a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway Energy. The first order is for 459 MW of V136-4.2 MW turbines operating in 4.3 MW power-optimised mode for two wind projects, TB Flats I and II, located in Wyoming. Including previously purchased V110-2.0 MW turbines, the projects will have a total combined capacity of 503 MW. And the latest order is for 228 MW of V136-4.2 MW, operating in 4.3 MW power-optimised mode. for the 250 MW Ekola Flats wind project, also located in Wyoming
