RUVNL's 1 GW Tender Sees Mahindra Susten, SAEL, Avaada Among Winners In a release issued this week, US-based energy firm Enfinity Global has announced it has added 205 MW of solar capacity in India. The global RE conglomerate said that the feat has been achieved through the interconnection of renewable projects worth 135 MW in the Indian state of Maharashtra. The company has also acquired six operational projects from Rays Power Infra in Telangana and Karnataka states. Enfinity Global had entered the Indian market in 2021 only. Enfinity held that these renewable projects were built under Mukhyamantri Saur Krishi Vahini Yojana, and then interconnected 135 MW across ten separate solar power plants in Maharashtra. The RE development took place during the first half of 2022. The Scheme is meant to offer day-time electricity to the farmers while ensuring the sustainable growth of agriculture. As per Enfinity, the green electricity so generated will be purchased by Maharashtra State Power Generation Co. (Mahagenco) under a 25-year PPA. Sandip Agarwal, CEO, Enfinity Global for India, said, “We will continue to strengthen our market presence by developing a hybrid renewable portfolio of about 3 GW as part of our current pipeline and continue to acquire operational assets across segments. We are also expanding into other sustainability areas such as water management, sustainable mobility, hydrogen generation and circular economy.” Indian Expansion The official statement of Enfinity said that the 250,000 solar panels installed will generate 225 million units of electricity per year, equivalent to lighting 189,000 Indian homes and reducing some 200,000 tons of CO2 emissions, equivalent to the amount absorbed by 9.5 million mature trees.” Enfinity acquired six solar power plants in Telangana and Karnataka from Rays Power Infra that are operational from and have a total capacity of 70 MW. Karnataka portfolion has three solar sites of combined capacity of 47 MW and in Telangana, the three solar sites would make 23 MW. The RE projets have existing PPAs with state owned DISCOMS. All the solar sites have employed 226,000 solar panels that generate 108 million units of electricity that can fulfill the needs of more than 98,000 households and save 103,000 tons of carbon. Enfinity Global today operates RE projects in the states of Telangana, Karnataka, Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh. The company has a pipeline of over 2 GW of commercial and industrial, and public utility renewable projects under various stages of development.
