USA's Atlas Renewable Energy Inks PPA for 902 MW Solar Project USA-based Atlas Renewable Energy, which offers clean energy solutions to large energy consumers in the Americas, has entered into a solar power purchase agreement (PPA) with Albras, which is Brazil’s largest primary aluminium producer. The contract paves the way for Atlas to supply solar-generated power to Albras for a period of 21 years. The solar power will be provided from the 902 MW Vista Alegre Photovoltaic Project. Operations will commence in 2025 for the plant, which will be established in Minas Gerais in Southeastern Brazil. Atlas Renewable Energy’s Chief Executive Carlos Barrera stated, “This is an important step for Atlas as we continue our focus to partner with corporate customers to support their energy transition to clean energy.” He further said, “The closing of our second contract with Albras attests to our ability to provide a compelling tailored energy solution to our customers. Furthermore, it offers predictability to the energy management of our customers looking to achieve their sustainability goals. The scale and term of this deal underscores Atlas’ ability to address the needs of large energy consumers with reliability of execution, while fostering best in class ESG programs in line with their values.” Atlas recently secured a loan of $210 million from Brazil’s Banco Nacional de Desenvolvimento Econômico e Social (BNDES) to finance its Boa Sorte solar project which is of 438 MW in capacity.
