UPNEDA Plans Floating Solar Project On 35 Dams, Issues Tender By Chitrika Grover/ Updated On Thu, Jan 2nd, 2025 Highlights : It has sought EOIs from interested parties until January 20, 2025. UPNEDA Plans Floating Solar Project On 35 Dams, Issues Tender Uttar Pradesh New and Renewable Energy Development Agency (UPNEDA) has now issued an Expression of Interest (EOI) from floating solar project developers. The tender is meant to gather information on the feasibility of floating solar power projects in the state and engage with potential developers. The last date for submitting bids under the tender is January 20, 2025. Through this EOI, UPNEDA aims to gather information on the feasibility of floating solar PV projects (FSPV) projects and engage with potential developers. It also intends to gauge the interest of capable parties in setting up floating solar projects on a Build, Own, Operate (BOO) basis at 35 identified dams and reservoirs in Uttar Pradesh. Successful respondents will have the liberty to choose their own power procurers. “The primary objective of this EOI is to seek to gather information on the feasibility of FSPV Power Projects and engage with potential developers. Also, to gauge the interest of capable parties in setting up floating solar projects on Build, Own, Operate (BOO) basis at 35 identified dams and reservoirs in Uttar Pradesh. Successful respondents will have the liberty to choose their own power procurers,” the UPNEDA tender read. Some of the dams identified by UPNEDA include Saprar Dam, Barwa Sagar, Pathrai Dam, Dongri Dam, Garhmau Tank (Lake), Pahuj Dam, Parichha Dam, Dhukwan Dam, Barwar Lake, Matatila Dam, and Sajnam Dam, among others. The project developer would be responsible for identifying the site for development, i.e., dams or reservoirs allocated by the State Level Committee (SLC). The Floating Solar Power Plant Developers (FSPD) would be required to survey, design, supply, install, test, and commission the project, along with operations and maintenance of the FSPV. They would also need to connect the system to the nearest STU/DISCOM substation and commission the project within the stipulated time. Additionally, the FSPD must obtain and maintain all consents, clearances, permits, and approvals for the entire lease period. The FSPD is also responsible for arranging the power procurer independently.
