Update: Avaada Energy appeal Against CERC Order At APTEL By Saur News Bureau/ Updated On Fri, Feb 7th, 2020 On January 20, we had carried a story on the CERC (Central electricity Regulatory Commission) refusing to provide any relief to Avaada Energy in its petition against SECI (Solar Energy Corporation of India), for its project in Maharashtra. In an update to the same, Avaada Energy has informed us that they had obtained a stay on the order at the Appellate Tribunal for Electricity (APTEL). Consequently, APTEL has directed SECI not to take any coercive action till the next date of hearing for the appeal on 27th February this month. Earlier, the CERC had also issued a corrigendum to its order, wherein it had made it clear that the issue of a stay on the cancellation of PPA by SECI, or the consequent need to reinstate the PSA between SECI and the state discom was actually infructuous, post its decision on the key issue of extension of time. To that extent, even that needs to be seen in the correct context, and not as a ruling against Avaada Energy. Tags: APTEL, Avaada Energy, CERC, India, SECI
