UPCL to Procure 200 MW Solar Energy from SJVN Green Energy Ltd By Saur News Bureau/ Updated On Wed, Nov 8th, 2023 Highlights : The purchase will be made at a tariff of INR 2.57 per unit from the Bikaner Solar Project of 1000 MW capacity. Tariff Discovered in SJVN 1.5 GW Tender Exceeds INR 4 per Kwh SJVN Green Energy Limited (SGEL), a wholly owned subsidiary of SJVN in Rajasthan under CPSU Scheme, has been awarded a Letter of Intent towards the procurement of 200 MW of solar power from Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited (UPCL). The purchase will be made at a tariff of INR 2.57 per unit from the Bikaner Solar Project of 1000 MW capacity. The project will see viability gap funding support from the Government. The PPA is yet to be signed between the two firms. The power generated from the project shall be used by government entities, either directly or through DISCOMs. The Bikaner Solar Project is expected to be commissioned next year in June and boasts an investment of INR 5491 crores. The project will generate 2455 million units in its first year and close to a total of 56838 million units over a period of 25 years. It will help curb carbon emissions of 27,85,077 tonnes. Earlier, SJVN was also awarded Letters of Intent for the purchase of solar power from Jammu & Kashmir Power Corporation Limited (JKPCL) and Rajasthan Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (RUVNL) from the Bikaner Solar Project. While JKPCL will purchase 600 MW, RUVNL will purchase 500 MW. The purchase will be at a tariff of INR 2.57 per unit. SGEL recently also received a Letter of Award for a solar power project of 100 MW from Rajasthan Urja Vikas Nigam Limited. The project, to be developed in Rajasthan, was bagged at a tariff of INR 2.62 per unit.
