UP Plans To Boost Growth Of Solar Streetlights, Issues Tender

The UP govermnment has now planned to boost the growth of solar power to illuminate its streetlights. In its latest endeavor, the state nodal agency has issued a tender in this regard. The last date for submission of the bids is December 14, 2024.

The state nodal agency on clean energy has now planned to install 60,000 new solar streetlights. It is aimed to decarbonize the streetlighting segment. As per the tender documents, UPNEDA seeks vendors who can supply, install and commission LED solar streetlights.

The tender said that the vendors need to complete the projects within four months. UPNEDA also asked the companies to submit an earnest money deposit equivalent to 50% of the world order value.

Mandate for indigenous panels 

The UPNEDA tender said that the vendors must ensure that only indigenous solar modules are used in these projects. SPV modules of 36 cells, 110 Wp can be used in such projects. It also asked the vendors to use Lithium Ferro Phosphate batteries for such projects.

As per the technical norms of the tender, the vendors have to ensure these solar streetlights are installed at a height of 4.5 meters above the ground and mounted at a pole below the module mounting structure. It asked the vendors to ensure that these lights work from dusk to dawn.

The tender also envisages a Remote Monitoring System (RMS) which can ensure timely remote monitoring of the functioning of these small solar plants. Regarding the batteries, the tender said,” The Lithium iron phosphate battery needs a very good “Battery Management System” BMS to ensure the proper charging and discharging of each cell of battery with proper protection of battery when temperature is reaching beyond battery permissible limits. This battery also needs constant current and constant voltage charging methodology related to upper voltage limit of the battery.”
