GMR Green Energy Limited, the renewable arm of the GMR Group, and U-Solar Clean Energy Solutions, a Bengaluru-based solar EPC and RESCO company, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to execute their 250 MWp pipeline of solar projects across multiple states in India within the next 2 years. According to a media release by U-Solar, the MoU will enable the companies to collaborate on developing solar photovoltaic power plants across the country, both on rooftops and on the ground, in onsite and offsite modes, to achieve their sustainable energy goals.

With GMR’s investment in the infrastructure projects and U-Solar’s strong business origination and development team, the collaboration has enabled both companies to create a win-win situation whereby energy consumers can benefit from working with leaders in the market, read the press document by Bengaluru firm U-Solar.

“This partnership is a testament to our vision of making solar energy accessible to our clients. We have worked with some very large energy consumers for their rooftop solar projects, this collaboration will enable us to further their energy transition goals. We are excited to work with GMR Green Energy Limited, to deliver solar energy through open access and group captive mechanisms in multiple states to our clients as their clean energy services partner,” said Mr KR Harinarayan, Founder and CEO of U-Solar Clean Energy Solutions.

To initiate the partnership GMR and U-Solar will work towards the deployment of a 50 MWp project in Maharashtra and a 100+ MWp project in Odisha respectively. Additionally, U-Solar will work on pure Capex projects for GMR Group through the Renewable Energy business unit.

In other news, NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL) recently announced the development of the Green Hydrogen project and its derivatives (Green Ammonia, Green Methanol) with the Maharashtra government. The project is expected to generate up to 1 million ton capacity per annum. Odisha on the other hand approved a special package about JSW’s projects related to electric vehicle and component manufacturing in Naraj, Cuttack, and Paradip, last month.
