Triveni Glass to set up solar glass plant in Andhra Pradesh Triveni Glass Limited, an Indian glass manufacturer company has plans to open up a solar glass manufacturing plant with a production capacity of 840 metric ton (MT)/day in Andhra Pradesh for an estimated investment of INR 1000 cr. Headquartered in Allahabad, UP, Triveni Glass Ltd. manufacturer of toughened glass and laminated safety glass. The said plant will be set up in Pangidi in East Godavari district of the state. The firm expects to create 2,000 jobs from the project. Triveni Glass has its presence in India at various locations including Rajahmundry in Andhra Pradesh’s East Godavari district where it has now proposed to locate the solar glass plant. The Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy assured MD Varun Gupta of full co-operation with all necessary infrastructure and trained persons available in the district. Andhra already boasts of several large-scale solar parks with an installed solar power capacity of over 4.2 GW till January 31, 2023. However, the State aims to facilitate setting up of 120 GW of solar, wind, wind-solar hybrid and hybrid projects with storage under its Renewable Energy Export Policy, 2020. The Andhra government has plans to attract investment of INR 3.5 trillion to INR 4.0 trillion in 44 GW wind and 38 GW solar power. The State will also soon be holding Global Investors’ Summit in Visakhapatnam on March 3 and 4, as per official statement. It should be noted that presently, Borosil Renewables is the only known solar glass manufacturer in India with an annual production capacity of 450 tons per day till Q1/FY2023. Last year, Borosil Renewables announced the signing of a binding deal for 100% equity in Interfloat Group, Europe’s biggest solar glass producer. With major sites in Germany and Liechtenstein, Borosil plans to increase manufacturing capacity to 2,600 tonnes per day, making it possible to supply solar glass for more than 15 GW of PV modules from 2025.
