Trina Solar’s 210 PERC Cell Achieves 24.5% Efficiency By Saur News Bureau/ Updated On Thu, Jul 14th, 2022 Trina Solar Awarded Zero-Carbon Factory Four-Star Certificate Chinese manufacturer of PV products, Trina Solar has said that its State Key Laboratory of PV Science and Technology (SKL PVST) proprietary industrial larger-area 210mm×210mm high-efficiency PERC (Passivated Emitter and Rear Cell) solar cell has accomplished high efficiency at 24.5%. This has been validated by National Institute of Metrology, China. As per Trina Solar, the company has set a new record for 210 P-type monocrystalline silicon PERC cells. The company stated that this is the 24th time that it has set a new world record, manifesting the company’s long-standing technology leadership. Trina Solar’s technologies including multi-layer anti-reflection, ultra-fine metallization finger, and super multi-busbars (MBB) contributes to the champion efficiency of 24.5% for larger-area 210mm high-efficiency PERC cells. “We are proud to announce the latest achievements developed by our technical team,” said Dr. Yifeng Chen, head of high efficiency cell and module R&D center at Trina Solar, adding, “PERC is a very mature industrial technology with the lower cost. Our latest achievement indicates Trina Solar R&D team’s vigorous and innovative capabilities in mature technology in mass production. We are dedicated to making continuous R&D investment in the technology of mass production, and creating higher value for our customers.” Trina Solar has always set its sights on transferring innovative technologies to manufacturing and turn lab-achieved efficiency into speedy industrialization while also consolidating technology leadership in high efficiency cells mass production, the company has revealed. With industry advancement, the industrialization of 600W+ has become common. The mature technology that 210 plus P-type offers has paved the path for the industry to enter a new age of 600W+ ultra-high efficiency. Concerted efforts from the partners of the value chain will certainly facilitate and enhance coordination between R&D, manufacturing and application. Besides, it will also aid the industrialization of the newest efficiency of 210 and lay the groundwork for lowering the cost for the PV industry.
