Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL) and Juniper Green Energy have emerged as winners in Tata Power’s auction. The tender was issued for the development and procurement of 225 MW of grid-connected intrastate and interstate wind-solar hybrid power projects. It also entails a greenshoe option of 225 MW on a long-term basis.

Juniper Green Energy quoted INR 3.27 per kWh and bagged 75 MW while TPREL bagged 150 MW at INR 3.28 per kWh under bucket-filling method. The TPREL and Juniper works are likely to boost the hybrid renewable energy project for ISTS.

The tender for the hybrid projects was issued in June. The successful bidders-TPREL and Juniper will now enter into a Power Purchase Agreement for a period of 25 years from the date that the project is commissioned. Tata Power has mandated the use of solar modules in ALMM issued by the MNRE.

Earlier, Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited signed two significant Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) with Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd. (MSEDCL) for commissioning two solar power projects, 200 MW and 150 MW, respectively. In June, Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited also commissioned a 110 MW solar power project in Bikaner, Rajasthan. The project will supply 110 MW of green power to the Kerala State Electricity Board.

Tata Power and its green arm TPREL have been working in the last few years to increase its presence across the country. Last year, the  Indian Army had also collaborated with Tata Power to setup 16 charging stations for electric vehicles (EV) at various locations in Delhi Cantonment. Inauguration of charging stations was carried out today by Lt Gen Dhiraj Seth, GOC Delhi Area in the presence of army officials and senior executives from TATA Power and TATA Motors.

All 16 charging stations setup in Delhi Cantonment can now be used both for personal and official EVs in Delhi Cantonment. The Indian Army is providing suitable facilities for setting up EV charging stations along with arranging upstream power infrastructure to energise the chargers.
