Electric Auto-rickshaws are becoming the talk of the town with major transitions taking place in cities like Delhi. Amid the push for cleaner modes of transport, public transport is rapidly changing and electric buses are plying on the road in larger numbers. Now, electric autos have also come on the roads in a major push towards a green approach in public transport. E-autos have become quite affordable for migrant workers in the country. Refueling them is cheaper as compared to those run on CNG and diesel. Here we list five electric auto rickshaw manufacturers in India.

Piaggio – Piaggio has been making its Ape E-city auto rickshaw. Piaggio electric auto rickshaws are in use across several cities.

Mahindra and Mahindra – Mahindra has brought Treo electric autos in two models related to cargo and others including the passenger model.

ETO Motors – ETO Motors’s Trilux electric rickshaw sports a unique design with an aluminium body.

Saarthi Shavak – Saarthi Shavak electric auto rickshaw sports a steel body.

Saera – Saera is known for its ‘Mayuri’ electric auto-rickshaws catering to cargo-carrying models and passenger-related models.

Apart from these e-autorickshaw players, Ola Electric is also planning to introduce an electric auto-rickshaw ahead of its IPO launch. According to media reports, the vehicle will be called Raahi. The company is also planning to set up 10,000 fast-charging points. According to Precedence research, the global electric vehicle market size reached USD 255.54 billion in 2023 and is projected to hit around USD 2,108.80 billion by 2033 with a notable CAGR of 23.42% from 2024 to 2033. Electric vehicle sales have increased from 67,68,000 in 2021 to 1,05,22,000 in 2022. The report further says that the Asia Pacific electric vehicle market size was valued at USD 107.68 billion in 2023 and is anticipated to reach around USD 917.33 billion by 2033, poised to grow at a CAGR of 23.82% from 2024 to 2033.
