Telangana confident to achieve a target of generating 960 MW of solar power by next FY By Saur News Bureau/ Updated On Sat, Apr 2nd, 2016 Telangana government is confident of achieving 960 MW solar power generation target by end of the next financial year. Principal Secretary of Energy, Arvind Kumar informed about the solar power generation target to the Union Joint Secretary of Ministry of New and Renewable Energy Tarun Kapoor, when officials of the Ministry met him at the Secretariat on Friday to discuss the implementation of the Solar Energy Policy in the State. The Union Joint Secretary appreciating Telangana Govt.’s proactive policies on solar power said that the State has become a role model for other States in the country. Kumar said “the state has made rapid strides in the solar power generation during the last one year. The total installed solar generation capacity is likely to cross 450 MW. Tendering for solar projects totaling 2000 MWs has already been completed and in wind energy, Telangana has a potential of 4000 MWs.” Bidding process for a solar park in Mahabubnagar would start once the land for the project is available and the detailed project report would be ready by the middle of next month. Kumar explained about the green hub incubation centre and sought Central funds for the same which was proposed with the technical cooperation of University of Texas.
