Tata Power Ties Up With Tata Motors For 131 MW Wind-Solar Hybrid Project Tata Power Ties Up With Tata Motors For Wind-Solar Hybrid Project

Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd (TPREL), the clean energy subsidiary of Tata Power, has signed a power purchase agreement with Tata Motors to co-develop a 131 MW wind-solar hybrid project.

The initiative will supply green electricity exclusively to Tata Motors’ six manufacturing plants in Maharashtra and Gujarat, the companies said Monday.

Expected to generate around 300 million units of clean energy annually, the project is projected to offset over 200,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions each year.

The deal supports Tata Motors’ goal to reach 100 percent renewable energy use well before its 2030 target. The firm aims to become net-zero and adopt sustainable manufacturing across its commercial and passenger vehicle operations.

The hybrid project, developed under a co-investment model with a long-term PPA, will provide reliable and cost-effective power through a mix of solar, wind, floating solar and battery storage.

TPREL said the integration of round-the-clock renewable energy will help industries meet environmental, social and governance (ESG) and RE100 goals, while reducing energy costs. The company recently crossed 1.5 GW in group captive project capacity and is expanding rapidly across the steel, automotive, polymer, hospitality, retail and real estate sectors.

It currently operates 478 MW under its group captive portfolio, with an additional 1.1 GW under development and set to be commissioned over the next two years. TPREL has worked with other Tata Group entities, including Tata Steel, Tata Communications and IHCL, to advance the group’s transition to sustainable energy.
