Tata Power Solar Gets ₹455 Cr Order To Supply 300 MWp Modules To MSPGCL Tata Power Solar Limited (TP Solar) a wholly owned subsidiary of Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL) has signed a contract with the Maharashtra State Power Generation Company Limited (MSPGCL) to supply 300 MWp of ALMM-certified solar modules for the Mukhyamantri Saur Krushi Vahini Yojana (MSKVY) 2.0 project. The contract is valued at approximately ₹ 455 crores. The ALMM-certified modules will be delivered to multiple locations across Maharashtra in the current year. The award forms part of MSPGCL’s larger 750 MWp tender, which was finalized following a competitive e-Reverse Auction (eRA) process. TP Solar operates in solar cell and module manufacturing plant in Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu. With a capacity of 4.3 gigawatts (GW) each for cells and modules, the facility has been designed with open spaces to accommodate future expansion. Tata Power, through its subsidiary TPREL, has invested nearly ₹ 4,300 crore to establish this plant. Equipped with TOPCon and Mono PERC technologies, the plant produces ALMM-certified modules as well as DCR modules using India-made Cells in this plant. The order adds to a slew of large orders placed with domestic manufacturers in recent months, when even GW sized orders, unthinkable until 2022, have become relatively common. Domestic module manufacturers have had a great run, with healthy order books in hand. TP Solar, with its cell making plant, is at a distinct advantage when it comes to DCR modules as well, as supply remains tight for this category. With a strong EPC division as well as a developer arm, Tata Power is well positioned to perform at maximum output for its solar manufacturing facilities in the coming year.
