Power & Energy Consultants Wins 800 MW Solar Power Project in Uttar Pradesh Tata Power Solar, a major integrated solar company and a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tata Power, has commissioned a 160MW AC solar project at Jetstar, Rajasthan. Approximately 6,75,000 numbers of monocrystalline PV modules were used in this installation and it will produce 387MUs of energy per year, an official statement said. “The Jetstar project was completed within a period of 15 months and is a testament to Tata Power Solar’s exceptional project execution capabilities. The project engineers worked under tough climatic conditions including movement of men and machinery to the project site,” the statement added. The Jetstar project is one of the largest solar projects in Rajasthan. Tata Power hopes that the project will not only increase the share of renewable power in the overall energy mix of the state but also contribute its bit towards India’s ambitious renewable energy targets. The project order’s scope included engineering, design, supply, construction, erection, testing, O&M and commissioning. Founded in 1989, Tata Power’s solar unit was originally formed as a joint venture between Tata Power and British Petroleum Solar (BP Solar). As India’s largest specialized EPC player in the solar space, the Karnataka-headquartered company now operates independently as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tata Power. Its manufacturing unit in Bangalore has a production capacity of 580MW of modules and 530 MW of cells. It also offers a diverse line of solar solutions for both urban and rural markets – these include rooftop solutions, solar pumps, and power packs among others, states Tata Power Solar. The company also says that it has a portfolio of more than 8.3GW of ground-mount utility-scale, over 950MW of rooftop and distributed generation projects across the country, and has installed over 65000 solar water pumps in India till date. “Tata Power Solar is committed to enabling solar everywhere and aims to provide energy access to millions of people across the country via its integrated solar solutions,” says the company.
