The project is valued at over 9 billion. Tata Power Receives First Set of 6 GWh BESS for 120 MW Energy Park Tata Power has received the first set of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) for 120 MW Energy Project from TATA AutoComp, a conglomerate that provides products and services to the Indian and global automotive OEMs. The BESS is for a capacity of 6 GWh. Dr. Praveer Sinha, CEO & MD, Tata Power received the BESS which is set for deployment at the 120 MW energy project at Chhattisgarh. Tata AutoComp also unveiled its manufacturing unit for state-of-the-art Battery Energy Storage System that was launched by Dr. Praveer Sinha and Arvind Goel, Chairman, Tata AutoComp Systems Limited. The Lithium-Ion based BESS will be manufactured under its joint venture Tata AutoComp Gotion Green Energy Solutions Pvt. Ltd. Dr. Praveer Sinha, CEO&MD, Tata Power, said, “We are happy to collaborate with Tata AutoComp for Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). With the rise of renewables, energy storage has become critical to address the intermittency of solar and wind energy resources. We shall integrate these BESS at our renewable sites to enable round-the-clock supply of clean power and ensure a speedier green energy transition.” Arvind Goel, Chairman, Tata AutoComp, said, “Tata AutoComp has always been a pioneer in introducing cutting edge technology to its customers. We are leveraging our knowledge in the automotive domain to serve emerging markets which have a synergy in technology. We have been pioneers in launching the Li-Ion based Battery packs and BMS for the Electric Vehicle segment. We are now leveraging this knowledge to build Battery Energy Storage Systems. India’s Top Ten Solar Module Manufacturers Also Read Previously, Tata AutoComp had joined hands with Tata Power Solar Systems Ltd, a subsidiary of Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited, towards the supply of BESS for its renewable projects. The 120 MW energy project was awarded to Tata Power by the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI). The project is valued at over 9 billion. Back in June, SECI had issued a tender for consulting services for the selection of consultancy firm for owners engineer services for 100 MW SPV Project along with 40 MW/120 MWh BESS at Rajnandgaon, Chhattisgarh and 100 MW Floating Solar PV Project at Getalsud, Jharkhand.
