Earlier in July, IREDA published a report that stated that the renewable sector has potential to employ 10 lakh individuals by 2030.
According to the IREDA report, “India’s Renewable Energy (RE) sector could potentially employ around 10 lakh people by 2030, which would be ten times more than the existing workforce of an estimated 1.1 lakh employed by the sector.”

According to another survey, the renewable energy industry added around 700,000 new employment in only one year.

Apart from that, according to a report released on September 2022, by the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) in partnership with the International Labour Organization, the sector employed 12.7 million people globally in 2021, up from 12 million in 2020 globally.

According to the IRENA analysis, under an ambitious energy transition scenario with front-loaded investments, the number of jobs generated by renewable energy might increase to 38.2 million in 2030 (globally). According to the research paper, over two-thirds of all such occupations are in Asia, with China alone accounting for 42% of the worldwide total. Brazil and the European Union each have 10% of the market, while the United States and India each have 7%.
