Swelect Sets Sights on Coimbatore to Make Solar Panels

A producer of silicon photovoltaic modules that also offers solar technology-based solutions, Swelect HHV Solar Photovoltaics Private Limited has commissioned a plant in Coimbatore, where it will develop solar energy panels. The firm is a subsidiary of Swelect Energy Systems,

R. Chellappan, Founder and Managing Director of Swelect, informed that the new manufacturing facility will be a fully-automated one. The unit boasts of an investment worth ₹120 crores and holds the capacity to devlop 700 MW of solar panels on an annual basis. He added, “We have invested ₹120 crore in land, building, production line, packaging, etc. The yearly sales from this unit will be ₹1,000 crore with maximum capacity utilisation,” he said.

The optimum capacity utilisation will be close 500 MW and will help with exports, domestic channel partners, EPC projects, and Independent Power Producer (IPP) projects.

A press release shared by the firm read as, “This new facility supersedes Swelect’s 140 MW facility functioning since 2013 in Bangalore in order to address the new specifications.”

As shared by Chellappan, Swelect has also exported to the United States through its US entity. Currently, the firm is eyeing expansion and has set sights on expanding reach to Australia and west Asian nations for direct exports as well as via subsidiaries.
