A firm that provides clean energy solutions, Suzlon Energy has onboarded J P Chalasani as its CEO. The appointment follows the resignation of Ashwani Kumar attributable to personal reasons.

J P Chalasani is the new CEO at Suzlon Energy

Chalasani had served as the Group Chief Executive Officer of Suzlon from April 2016 to July 2020, following which, he stepped into the role of Strategic Advisor to the Group.

Chalasani professional experience spans four decades, both in the public and private sector, across the power sector. He has experience delving into projects related to power generation , transmission, distribution.

Before he assumed the role of Group CEO at the firm, Chalasani was the Group CEO and Managing Director of Punj Lloyd since January 2014, where he looked after energy, infrastructure and defence business. He spent over a decade with the Reliance Group, where he joined as Vice President in 1995.

His career entails stints as the first Chief Executive Officer and the Director on BSES Rajdhani Board and BSES Yamuna Power Ltd. Chalasani was appointed to the Board of Reliance Infrastructure in the role of Director Business Development in 2003. He took over the reigns of Reliance Power as its Chief Executive Officer in 2008.

A few months ago, Suzlon Energy approved the sale of its remaining 51.05% ownership interest in the subsidiary Vayudoot Solarfarms to Ahmedabad-based Aries Renewables, the firm reported in a National Stock Exchange filing.
