Indian Wind Energy Company Suzlon Group has appointed Gurpratap Boparai as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO)-Manufacturing Bussiness. The wind turbine generator manufacturer submitted the details of his joining before the BSE its filings. 

Boparai joined the Pune-based company from July 1. Suzlon said that the newly inducted CEO (manufacturing) has expertise in market launches, company restructuring and others.

Suzlon said that Gurpratap has a bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical) with Honors from Punjab Engineering College and is a MBA from XLRI Jamshedpur majoring in Finance & Marketing. 

“He brings in an experience of 32 years in manufacturing operations and a track record of achieving operational excellence. His last employment was with Mahindra and Mahindra Limited, where he was leading the Automotive Businesses in Europe as CEO. In his previous stints, he has been associated with Skoda Volkswagen India, Fiat India, Iveco India, Tata Cummins and Tata Engineering and Locomotive,” Suzlon said.

It also added that during his career, Gurpratap executed market launches, company restructuring, handled major investments, improved productivity and quality indicators, managed green field projects and scaled up businesses to create cohesive teams capable of taking decisions independently. 

“He was also instrumental in obtaining unique and country first incentives from Maharashtra Government for Fiat and subsequently VW Group,” it added.
