SunSource Energy, a solar energy solutions provider and a subsidiary of SHV Energy, a 127-year-old Dutch Multinational, commissioned a 21 MWp solar power plant in Ramanathapuram in Tamil Nadu. This project, spanning 50 acres, marks SunSource Energy’s foray into the state.

SunSource Energy has already tied up with leading Commercial and Industrial (C&I) businesses for the entire 21 MWp capacity that includes names from the Oil and Gas, Automotive, Metals and Mining, and FMCG sectors. The project is expected to generate approximately 760 million kilowatt-hours (kWh) of clean energy and offset up to 700 million kilograms of CO2 emissions1 during its technical lifetime.

Santanu Guha, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of SunSource Energy said, “We are pleased to commission our first plant in Tamil Nadu, one of the leading states for renewable energy in India. With Tamil Nadu playing host to various industries including Automobile, IT&ITES, Textiles, Manufacturing, etc., this project is just the beginning for us in the state. We foresee planning several new projects for C&I customers and helping them in their energy transition journey.”

For over fourteen years SunSource Energy has been contributing to the energy transition efforts of its C&I customers and helping them save on their energy costs. Ajay Sanghi, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), SUPERGAS said, “By partnering with SunSource Energy to procure solar power for our Tuticorin Terminal, we not only reduce carbon emissions at the terminal – but equally as important – increase cost efficiencies. This ensures we can continue to provide affordable cleaner energy access to consumers and businesses and help drive the energy transition.”

With a presence in major states in India, and a portfolio of 500 MWp solar assets deployed, contracted, and under-development, Sunsource will hope to capitalise on the expected strong demand in the C&I segment in coming years, with many even expecting additions in the category to exceed 4 GW per annum.
