Sunpure Wins Contract to Supply Cleaning Robots for Qatar's Large-Scale Solar Plant

Solar EPC and O&M firm, Sunpure has won a contract from South Korean Samsung C&T- an engineering and construction firm for the supply of PV cleaning robots for Qatar’s largest solar plant—the industrial cities solar power project (IC Solar). The cumulative capacity for the two solar PV plants that Sunpure will provide services for is 875 MW.

Samsung C&T delves into residential, office, industrial building and infrastructure construction.

The projects are slated to conclude commercial operation at the end of 2024. This will be the second PV project on a large scale in Qatar that applies PV cleaning robots solutions.

Sunpure will be responsible for making cleaning robots and providing services to ensure high efficiency to the projects. The firm will look at providing hiher value with lower LCOE.

In August last year, QatarEnergy- a state owned petroleum company of Qatar, awarded a contract valued at $630.33 million to Samsung C&T for the EPC of the project. The contract was for the construction of its industrial cities solar power project. The said plants will be established in Mesaieed Industrial City (417 MW) and Ras Laffan Industrial City (458 MW) in Qatar.

The IC Solar Project are essential for the renewable energy generation capacity of the middle eastern country as it will help increase generation signficantly by 2024 in unison with the Al Kharsaa Solar PV Power Plant.
