Sri Lanka’s Renewable Energy Firm WindForce Signs PPA for 10 MW Solar Project

A dominant player in the renewable energy sector of Sri Lanka, WindForce PLC, has entered into a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) to develop a 10 MW Kebithigollewa Solar Power Project.

The PPA signing ceremony witnessed the presence of N.S. Ilangakoon, Chairman of the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB), Manjula Perera, Managing Director of WindForce PLC, and Lasith Wimalasena, Chief Executive Officer of WindForce PLC.

WindForce PLC has acquired a stake of 92% in Kebithigollewa Solar Power (Private) Limited. The project will see an investment of close to LKR 2.7 billion, and an Equity Internal Rate of Return (EIRR) of over 15%. The project, presently under development, is slated for completion in July next year.

Last month, WindForce PLC, partnered with Independent Power Producer Lakdhanavi Ltd and Blue Circle Pte Ltd- a Singapore-based renewable energy firm, for what is set to be Sri Lanka’s largest private-sector renewable energy project. The project, a 100 MW solar power plant equipped with a transmission facility, is located in Siyambaladuwa, Monaragala District.
