Spain’s Soltec Power Connects 112.5 MW Solar Project in Brazil

In a key development that adds to the renewable energy expansion in South America, Soltec Power Holdings SA has connected the first solar power project built by it in Brazil. The solar power plant has a generation capacity of 112.5 MW. Soltec is a Spain-based solar energy specialist.

The solar power project has come up with an investment of around EUR 80 million. The project belongs to Soltec Power’s project development division called Powertis. The employment generation in the project is kept at 550 in both direct and indirect forms of employment.

As per reports, the name of the solar power project is Pedranopolis which is situated in a municipality of the same name in the state of Sao Paulo. The renewable energy player has built the Pedranopolis plant employing about 210,000 solar power panels and 3,750 Soltec SFOne trackers. The solar products were manufactured by Soltec Power Holdings itself.

Soltec said that the solar project will provide the electricity needs of 115,000 households and prevent CO2 emission worth 175,000 tonnes into the atmosphere annually.

Raul Morales, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Soltec Power has said that Brazil remains a strategic market for the Soltec group. The company, through Powertis, has a portfolio of about 4.5 GW of renewable energy projects in various stages of development in Brazil. “”For us, the Brazilian market is strategic, both for the development of photovoltaic projects and for our industrial division. We have a leading position and a clear long-term vision,” said Morales

Pablo Otín, CEO of Powertis, stated, “We are proud to announce this milestone, which is the company’s first connected project in the country. Our mission is to contribute to a sustainable future and, thanks to the great effort and coordination of all team members, as well as the cooperation with local communities, we are one step closer.”

Soltec Power has also signed an agreement with multi-utility group ACEA to develop a solar power project having a capacity of 340 MW in Italy.
