Solarpack, SJVNL Sign PPA For 482 MW Ganeko Hybrid Project By Chitrika Grover/ Updated On Thu, Jun 13th, 2024 Highlights : The Ganeko project is located in Gujarat and consists of 383 MW of solar photovoltaic capacity and 99 MW of wind capacity. The combined installed capacity of 482 MW is expected to generate energy equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of more than 250,000 households in India. Solarpack, SJVNL Sign PPA For 482 MW Ganeko Hybrid Project Spain-based Solarpack was recently awarded a power purchase agreement (PPA) for 25 years with SJVNL to supply clean energy to the company from 2026. This PPA would also allow Solarpack to supply clean energy for the 482 MW Ganeko wind-solar hybrid project. The Ganeko project is located in Gujarat and consists of 383 MW of solar photovoltaic capacity and 99 MW of wind capacity. The combined installed capacity of 482 MW is expected to generate energy equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of more than 250,000 households in India. This project also aligns with Solarpack’s objective to offer renewable solutions to its customers in India. and it would also help the company help meet its decarbonization objectives. Solarpack this year launched its plan to develop more than 5 GW of new renewable projects in the country. The development of this hybrid solution can help Solarpack optimize the use of renewable sources and minimize the environmental impact of the projects in the places where they are located. Leo Moreno, global CEO of Solarpack, says: “Our goal is to satisfy the specific needs of our customers and, at the same time, contribute significantly to the reduction of carbon emissions. “This multi-technology project in India is a crucial step to help the country meet its energy transition goals.”Sajay KV, CEO of Solarpack in India, comments: “ By winning this hybrid wind and solar contract, Solarpack demonstrates its ability to compete in India’s evolving multi-technology renewable energy sector. Through the Ganeko hybrid project, we achieved a pipeline of 1 GW in India in the first half of 2024, which is in line with our strategic plan of developing 5 GW of multi-technology products in the country ”The hybrid project is expected to support SJVNL on its path to meeting the nation’s climate commitments, reducing carbon emissions, and driving the expansion of India’s renewable generation capacity.Solarpack’s activity in India began in 2015, successfully consolidating its presence through eight solar photovoltaic plants throughout the country. With the commissioning of the Gorbea and Anboto projects in 2025, and now Ganeko, Solarpack has 1.3 GW of capacity with PPAs awarded in India. The company’s objective is to promote the transition of the energy sector towards carbon-free sources. Tags: Ganeko, hybrid project, PPA, SJVNL, Solarpack
