Solar Power to Light Up 214 Remotely Located Villages in Jharkhand By Saur News Bureau/ Updated On Thu, May 4th, 2017 Laying stress on supplying electricity in all houses by 2018, Jharkhand Chief Minister has instructed Energy Department to make solar power available in 214 remotely located villages of the state. The State Government of Jharkhand has decided to harness solar power to brighten as many as 214 remotely located villages in the region. Chief Minister Raghubar Das issued a directive in this regard. While reviewing the Energy Department, the CM directed the officials to provide solar power to the villages situated in hilly terrains by September 2017. “Supplying power is in the priority list. The CM said that the Government has targeted to supply electricity in all houses by 2018 and the work should be taken seriously. In rural areas, power should be connected through conducting camps,” said an official after the meeting. Laying stress on solar farming, the CM said that companies making solar power panels should be called to Jharkhand. Besides rural pockets, the exercise to connect all important Government buildings should continue in a speedy manner, said the CM. “Barren lands should be used for this. Once the solar power panels are installed, it will work for next 25 years and save expenditure and manpower. Also, meters will be installed at transformers by December for controlling power theft,” he added.
