On the other hand it plans to add 3,818 MW of solar and and 2,498 MW of wind energy. UP Proposes Dedicated Resource Adequacy Cells For Discoms Indian Public Sector Enterprise, SJVN Limited, known for its mandate and history of developing mainly hydroelectric power has now shifted its interest towards solar and other renewable projects. Based on SJVN’s projections on assets and ongoing, and future projects, it can be inferred that it plans to reach this goal as early as 2026. In its recent investor’s call, it listed its upcoming solar and hydro projects which showcased the company’s increased inclination of the company from hydro to all renewable. In the call, addressed by the incumbent Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) Sunil Sharma, the investors were briefed on questions on the ongoing and future projects in the country. SJVN RE Portfolio Overtakes Hydro Projects The CMD shared details of two major solar projects commissioned by SJVN in 2023 i.e., Gujrai Solar Project of 50 MW and Raghanesda Solar Project of 100 MW in Quarter 4. These new projects brought SJVN’s installed capacity to around 2,377 MW. The power from this solar project is being sold to Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL) thus, taking the latest power added from these projects to 150 MW. Giving a wholistic view, SJVN shared its plans according to which, in 2024-25, it plans to add a 1,320 MW thermal project, with no capacity addition in the hydro, solar is projected to add, 3,818 MW, and wind energy is expected to generate 2,498 MW. In FY ’26, Hydro is projected to reach 1176 MW, whereas, solar and wind energy is expected to reach 4,330 MW. Among the share of operationalized projects by SJVN included the 75 MW Parasan Solar Power Project, 75 MW Gurhah Solar Power Project, and 50 MW Gujrai Solar Power Project. SJVN projects included a mix of Hydro, solar, and wind projects, with solar projects outweighing Hydro projects. Among the details shared in the investor’s calls included the commissioning of the 60 MW Naitwar Mori Hydro Project and laying the foundation stone of the 382 MW Sunni Dam Hydro Electric Project. Other mentioned projects are 66 MW Dhaulasidh and 210 MW Luhri in Himachal Pradesh which are underway. The investors’ call mentioned a slew of upcoming projects by SJVN. These projects include hydro and solar projects in the ratio of 1:3. Some of the key projects include the commissioning of a 15 MW floating solar power project in Himachal Pradesh, and 70 MW solar project in the state of Assam and the earlier mentioned 382 MW Sunni Dam Hydro Electric Project.
