SJVN Invites Developers To Build RT Solar Projects On Gov Buildings SJVN

SJVN has invited proposals from developers to set up 5830 kW of grid-connected rooftop solar power projects (without battery storage). SJVN is developing these on Union Government buildings across seven states, as designated by the MNRE under the PM Suryaghar scheme.  These states are NCT of Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Rajasthan. The projects are to be set up under the RESCO Mode, through a Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding system.

The tender sets 16th October as the last date for online bid submission.

The tender mentions certain benefits offered to the bidders under this project. For instance, it states, “The bidders will be free to avail fiscal incentives like Accelerated Depreciation, Concessional Customs and Excise Duties, Tax Holidays, etc., as available for the above Rooftop Solar Projects. The same will not affect the comparison of bids for selection. As equal opportunity is provided to all bidders at the time of tendering, it is up to the bidders to avail of various tax and other benefits.”

The tender does not offer central government financial assistance under the solar rooftop scheme for Government buildings of Union Ministries/Departments.

The government launched the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana under Prime Minister Narendra Modi to provide free electricity to households. This scheme empowers households to harness solar energy by offering a substantial subsidy covering up to 40% of the cost of installing solar panels on rooftops.

The scheme seeks to extend benefits to 1 crore households across the country. Furthermore, it is projected to generate savings for the government, estimated at Rs. 75,000 crores annually in electricity costs. Through this initiative, the government underscores its commitment to promoting sustainable energy and ensuring energy access for all.
