APDCL and SJVN have been working closely in partnership for implementation of renewable energy projects.

It may be recalled that back in August, SJVN Green Energy Limited (SGEL) had received the Letter of Awards from APDCL for three solar power projects of cumulative capacity 320 MW. SGEL had participated in three separate tariff based competitive bidding tenders of APDCL, that is, 50 MW, 70 MW and 200 MW. Last year, SGEL and APDCL had signed an MoU in Guwahati to develop 1000 MW of floating solar power projects in Assam.

Assam has been committed to ramping up renewable energy capacities in the state. Earlier, Assam cabinet approved green energy projects having cumulative capacity 620 MW to be developed in Assam. A series of tenders have also been issued by the state this year.

January set the tone for the rest of the year for Assam as ONGC Tripura Power Company and Assam Power Distribution Company Limited also signed an MoU to develop a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) Project boasting a total capacity of up to 250 MW / 500 MWh in Assam. SJVN earlier also had received Letter of Intent (LOI) for the purchase of solar power from Jammu and Kashmir Power Corporation Limited (JKPCL) and Rajasthan Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (RUVNL). In that case, JKPCL sought to purchase 600 MW of solar power and RUVNL was set to purchase 500 MW. The purchase is at a tariff of INR 2.57 per unit from Bikaner Solar Project of 1000 MW.
