SJVN Green’s 1 GW Bikaner Project Starts With First 241 MW Start By Chitrika Grover/ Updated On Wed, Apr 2nd, 2025 Highlights : This project, with a total planned capacity of 1,000 MW, is scheduled for full commissioning by September 30, 2025. SJVN Green Energy Limited (SGEL) has completed the trial run of a 241.77 MW capacity solar project in Bikaner, Rajasthan. The company stated in a regulatory filing that this constitutes Phase I of the 1,000 MW Bikaner Solar Power Project, completed on March 31, 2025. The capacity is currently operational and is set to achieve a Commercial Operation Date (COD) on April 2, 2025. This project, with a total planned capacity of 1,000 MW, is scheduled for full commissioning by September 30, 2025. The company added, “Upon completion, SGEL will supply the generated solar power to three states: Rajasthan, Jammu & Kashmir, and Uttarakhand. SJVN’s Renewable Energy Expansion Providing an overview of its projects during an earlier presentation during its Q3 results, the company had shared , “Currently, 12 projects with a combined capacity of 2,466.5 megawatts and two transmission lines are operational. We are constructing four hydro projects totaling 1,558 megawatts, one thermal project of 1,320 megawatts, and 12 solar projects with a total capacity of 2,058 megawatts. In total, the company’s under-construction portfolio stands at 4,936 megawatts.” Leadership and Future Expansion Plans Sushil Sharma, the additional charge of Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) of SJVN had commented that two units of the 1,320 MW Buxar project will be commissioned during FY ’25-’26. Additionally, this solar capacity will be able to add another 200 to 250 megawatts.” Discussing the company’s future targets, it expected to add roughly around 1.5 gigawatts of solar capacity in FY ’26. Furthermore, the company listed several projects set for commissioning in the upcoming year.
