SJVN Green Energy Limited (SGEL) has successfully commissioned a 90 MW floating solar project at Omkareshwar in Madhya Pradesh. The project is executed by SJVN Green Energy Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam Limited (SJVN), a Central Public Sector Enterprise (CPSE). The project has been developed at a cost of Rs 646.20 crores and is expected to generate 196.5 million units of energy in the first year. With the commissioning of the Omkareshwar project, the total installed capacity of the company increased to 2,466.50 MW. This 90 MW floating solar project is housed at the Omkareshwar floating solar Park located in the Khandwa district of Madhya Pradesh. The project is one of the largest floating solar projects in Central & North India. With the commissioning of this project, the PSU-known for Hydroelectric projects- also increased its stake in floating solar power projects. The estimated cumulative energy generation over a period of 25 years from this project is likely to be 4,629.3 million units. This project is expected to increase SGEL’s revenue by Rs 64 crores. Currently, the company’s total project portfolio is 56,802.40 MW and the company is executing projects in Hydro, Pumped Storage, Thermal and Renewable Energy sectors. Earlier in July, SJVN announced that it had secured a 2,400 MW Pumped Storage Project (PSP), in Darzo Lui, Mizoram. Its first such project in Mizoram.
