SJVN Commissions Uttar Pradesh’s 75-MW Parasan Solar Project

SJVN Commissions Uttar Pradesh’s 75-MW Parasan Solar Project Nand Lal Sharma, CMD, SJVN

Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam (SJVN) has announced that it has begun to commission its 75-MW Solar Power Project in the Parasan Solar Park. The solar power project is located in Tehsil Kalpi in Jalaun district which is near Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. The state owned firm has confirmed that the process of commissioning will be completed by the end October only.

Nand Lal Sharma, Chairman & Managing Director, SJVN, said that this project will be the third commissioned solar project of the SJVN besides two Hydro & two wind projects.

The latest commissioning also means that the installed capacity of SJVN is now over 2090-MW. The CMD also mentioned that SJVN had bagged the 75-MW Parasan Solar Power Project at a tariff of Rs. 2.68 per unit on Build Own and Operate (BOO) basis. This was achieved under competitive tariff bidding conducted by Uttar Pradesh New & Renewable Development Agency (UPNEDA).

He also informed that the construction or development cost of the solar power project is more than Rs. 392 crore. SJVN has also signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for the solar project with Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) for 25 years.

He further said that, in the first year, the solar plant will produce about 168 million units and over a period of 25 years, the estimated cumulative energy generation will be 3919 million units. This will further result in revenues of around Rs. 45 crore per annum.

Apart from the Parasan Solar Project, SJVN is implementing renewable energy projects of more than 4000-MW capacity through SJVN Green Energy Limited. Out of the total RE portfolio, 179.5 MW will be under operation after the UP solar park is commissioned. 1370 MW projects remain under construction and 2458 MW of projects are already in different stages of implementation.

Last week, SJVN announced that it has won a 105-MW floating solar project from the Maharashtra State Power Generation Company (MAHAGENCO) through an e-reverse auction.

SJVN has a present portfolio of over 42,000 MW and the company wants to achieve its Shared Vision of 5000 MW by 2023, 25000 MW by 2030 & 50000 MW installed capacity by 2040.
