Shakti Pumps Gets Patent for Inventing Switching Circuit To Start Single Phase-Induction Motor

Shakti Pumps Secures Order for 10,000 Pumps from Department of Agriculture, Uttar Pradesh

Shakti Pumps Limited, a manufacturer of energy-efficient pumps and motors, has received a patent for inventing a “Switching Circuit To Start Single Phase-Induction Motor”. Intellectual Property India, a Ministry of Commerce & Industry Organisation awarded the patent to the firm, in accordance with the provisions of the Patents Act, 1970. It will hold a validity of 20 years from the date of filing of the patent. The firm informs that it has received three patents till date and has filed for 27 more patents in India and internationally.

Generally, in order to start a single-phase induction motor, a control box that uses capacitors is required. In submersible motors, an additional conductor was required in the riser cable. These capacitors increase the possibilities of complications in circuits and voltage fluctuations. With the help of the said invention, complications can be avoided while additional costs of conductors in the riser cable can be saved. At the same time, the invention also eliminates the issues of voltage fluctuations in riser cables and increases the precision in switching, as compared to the panel and capacitor

The firm was granted its maiden patent for innovating ‘A Unidirectional Solar Water Pump with Grid-tied Power Generation’ system last year.

The firm shares that began business as a core pumping solutions company and went on to manufacture India’s first ever 100% stainless steel pumps and energy efficient motors. It was also awarded with India’s first BEE five-star rated pumps. Currently, it boasts of over 260 pump models which have been certified with five-star ratings by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE). Shakti Pumps claims to hold the dominating position in domestic solar pumps industry with more than 35% market share in PM KUSUM Scheme.
