Energy-efficient pumps and motors’ manufacturer Shakti Pumps (India) Limited has been granted its maiden patent for innovating ‘A Unidirectional Solar Water Pump with Grid-tied Power Generation’ system. It’s a proud moment in the company’s history, said an official statement. The solar-powered unidirectional pump offers grid-tied power generation capabilities. Shakti Pumps says that solar water pumps ensure efficient performance by utilising solar panels to help feed extra power to the grid. It says that the technology allows the limiting of the pump’s discharge as per the water need and helps save both water and electricity. Shakti Pump informs that the innovation and development of the pump was carried out by a team under the aegis of Dinesh Patidar, Chairman and Managing Director of the company. Shakti Pump claims that with its first patent, the company has yet again displayed its commitment to innovate and develop highly efficient products to meet India’s irrigation and pumping requirements. Shakti Pumps started manufacturing India’s first 100 per cent stainless steel pumps and energy efficient motors in the year 1996. Today it has more than 260 pump models that are rated 5-star by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE). The company claims that it holds a dominant position in the domestic solar pumps industry with approximately 40 per cent market share in the PM-KUSUM scheme.
