Shakti Pumps Empaneled For 50,000 Solar Pumps In Maharashtra By Saur News Bureau/ Updated On Fri, Oct 20th, 2023 Shakti Pumps Plans To Go Bullish On PM-Kusum (Comp. C) Pithampur, Madhya Pradesh-based Shakti Pumps, a leader in solar pumping solutions, announced that it has received Letter of Empanelment from Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL), for 50,000 Off-Grid Solar Photovoltaic Water Pumping Systems (SPWPS) pumps for the entire state of Maharashtra under Component-B of PM-KUSUM scheme (Phase-III). The total value of the 50,000 pumps is around Rs. 1,603 Crores. Under this scheme, farmers stand to benefit significantly, with a generous 90 % subsidy provided. Component B specifically focuses on the installation of standalone solar powered agriculture pumps with capacities of 3, 5 & 7.5 HP. It has also been the most successful component of the PM KUSUM Scheme, vis a vis the grid linked component A and Component C. Dinesh Patidar, Chairman of Shakti Pumps Dinesh Patidar, Chairman of Shakti Pumps, expressed his deep appreciation, stating, “We express our heartfelt gratitude to Maharashtra’s devoted farmers and MSEDCL government officials for this initiative. This move will also relieve Discoms of the burden of subsidy loss. Farmers who applied for and were awaiting an electrical connection will be upgraded to solar pumps as part of this effort. These farmers relied on diesel pumps for irrigation or only grew one crop depending on the season. These farmers can now farm all year without worrying about water, while also increasing agricultural productivity with micro-irrigation techniques, in line with the ‘Per Drop More Crop’ philosophy.” Switching from diesel to solar pumps will result in economic savings, increased energy independence, and environmental benefits by lowering greenhouse gas emissions and air pollution. It not only reduces running expenses, but it also contributes to energy independence and a cleaner, more sustainable environment. For Shakti Pumps, the PM KUSUM orders have been a key part of its growth journey, allowing the firm to leverage its deep understanding of farmers and their needs across markets while bidding for such large contracts. With a renewed focus on grid connected pumps under Component C in particular, the firm has a long growth runway ahead of it to look forward to.
