Servotech And GIZ Develop ComPort, A Solar Performance Monitoring Device By Saur News Bureau/ Updated On Tue, Jun 21st, 2022 Servotech Power Systems claims to have developed a first-of-its-kind solar performance monitoring and controlling device, dubbed as ComPort. This was in association with the German development agency Deutsche Gesellschaft fur Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH (GIZ). The device can not only detect the defects, issue notifications but also diagnose the problems and suggest O&M (operation and maintenance) tasks, according to a statement released by the company. The device has been successfully tested with the portable solar system PV port at the EUREF-Campus in Berlin, Germany. Present at the testing, Servotech’s founder and Managing Director Raman Bhatia said, “We are proud to develop ComPort, which is a first-of-its-kind universally applicable instrument that can be integrated with any off-grid and hybrid inverter and users who have applied solar solutions to get the most out of these systems. Features such as DIY-friendly installation, remote power scheduling and minimised energy costs, make this device the perfect solution leading to optimised solar system performance. Further, we have also filed multiple patents for the device”. Bettina Jarasch, Deputy Mayor of Berlin and Senator for Environment, Mobility, Consumer and Climate Protection, said, “At least 10 PV ports should be installed at Friedrich Strasse (Frederick Street) to reduce public car traffic and enable a public free solar-powered charging station”. The company claimed that ComPort can be integrated into any domestic off-grid/hybrid solar system and can turn it into a smart solar system. So built as to make the users aware of principles behind solar systems, this mobile app-controlled device claimed to make available several system insights to the fingertips. Since the device is IoT-enabled, the defects are easily detected, sending the notifications. Besides, the app helps diagnose the problems, offering a solution if related to O&M. Among the many other advantages of ComPort are prevention of a system from malfunctioning, constant monitor, control and report I/O Power (input-output), battery charge/discharge, solar power generation, track of previous results to enable comparison, data interface for third-party O&M companies.
