SECI Issues RFS for 1 GW Firm & Dispatchable Renewable Energy The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) has issued a tender for the selection of renewable energy developers for the supply of 1000 MW firm and dispatchable power from ISTS connected renewable energy (RE) power projects in India, under tariff-based competitive bidding (SECI-FDRE-V) on Build-Own-Operate (BOO) basis. Land and connectivity shall be in the scope of the renewable energy power developer. The last date for submission of bids is January 9, 2024. Bids open on January 12, 2024. SECI shall enter into a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with the successful bidders selected based on the RfS for purchase of power for a period of 25 years. Tata Power Renewable Energy Gets LoA For Supply of 200 MW From SJVN Also Read The tender has been introduced with the objective to provide firm and dispatchable RE (FDRE) power to the DISCOMs through renewable energy sources, to facilitate the scale up of renewable capacity addition and achieve economies of scale, while facilitating the fulfilment of RPO requirement of the obligated entities. The Ministry of Power had issued “Guidelines for Tariff Based Competitive Bidding Process for Procurement of Firm and Dispatchable Power from Grid Connected Renewable Energy Power Projects with Energy Storage Systems,” in June, 2023. The developer shall supply renewable energy in a firm and dispatchable manner, matching the demand profile provided by the buying entities. The demand profile has been provided for all the 96 time-blocks (each block comprising a 15 minutes’ duration) for a representative day of each month of the year. The same profile shall be applicable for each contract year during the term of the PPA, and shall be matched by renewable energy supply scheduled by the developer. SECI has earlier introduced several other tenders for firm and dispatchable renewable energy. These include capacities of 800 MW, 500 MW, 1500 MW, 1260 MW.
