SECI Extends Bid Submission Deadline for Two Solar Tenders

SECI has extended the bid submission deadline for two of its biggest active solar tenders at the moment, the 1.5 GW CPSU-II and the 6 GW manufacturing-linked tender

The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) has extended the bid submission deadline for two of its biggest active solar tenders at the moment.

The nodal agency has extended the bid submission deadline for its tender for selection of solar power developers for setting up of 1500 MW grid-connected (including mini and microgrid) solar PV power projects in India (Tranche-II) under the second phase of the CPSU (Government Producers Scheme) Scheme from August 23, 2019, to September 9, 2019.

The second tender for which the deadline has been extended is the Request for Selection (RfS) for selection of solar power developers (SPD) for setting up of 6 GW ISTS-Connected solar PV power plants linked with setting up of 2 GW (per annum) solar manufacturing plant.

SECI has extended the deadline for bid submission on this tender from August 26, 2019, to September 11, 2019. The techno-commercial bids will now be opened on the date of the deadline.

The first tender for 1500 MW solar projects under the second phase of the CPSU shame was issued in early August. SECI invited proposals for setting up of the grid (including Mini & Micro Grid) connected solar PV projects anywhere in India on a “Build Own Operate” (B-O-O) basis.

The power generated from the above projects shall be solely for self-use or use by government/government entities, either directly or through Discoms on payment of mutually agreed usages charges of not more than Rs. 3.50/kWh, which shall be exclusive of any other third party charges like wheeling and transmission charges and losses, etc.

The second tender was issued in June. As per the provisions of the RfS, the SPDs selected by SECI are required to set up cumulative annual solar manufacturing capacity of 2 GW, which shall be set up over a maximum period of 2 years. The SPDs shall be provided assured PPAs up to 1500 MW against 500 MW of manufacturing plant.

SECI has set a ceiling tariff for the PPA that it will sign with the successful solar power developers at Rs 2.75/kWh for the 25-year duration of the agreement.
