Gujarat-based Sahaj Solar recently secured a Letter of Award (LoA) from the Tripura Renewable Energy Development Agency (TREDA) for the solarization of existing 2 HP grid-connected agricultural pumps (IPS).

The company stated in a regulatory filing, “These pumps include a 5-year guarantee/warranty and an annual maintenance contract, including insurance coverage, on a turnkey basis in Tripura under the PM-KUSUM Scheme (Component C) of the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy, Govt. of India. The total value of the contract is ₹36.42 crores (inclusive of GST).” The company is expected to complete this project within 12 months from the date of issue of the LoA. TREDA issued the tender for this project in June 2024, and the project was awarded within six months.

Tripura Expands Solarization Under Comp C

Sahaj Solar would be responsible for the solarization of existing grid-connected 2 HP AC agricultural pumps (IPS) through the design, survey, manufacture, supply, and commissioning of a 3 KWp grid-connected SPV power plant and interfacing devices with the existing 2 HP AC pump. This includes a 5-year warranty/guarantee, an annual maintenance contract, and insurance coverage on a turnkey basis in Tripura under the PM-KUSUM Scheme (Component C) of the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy.

Union Minister Pralhad Joshi recently reviewed the performance and implementation of key central schemes in Tripura, including food grain storage, distribution, the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, and PM-KUSUM. Joshi lauded the initiatives of the state government in the renewable energy sector, stating that Tripura has made significant progress. Before 2018, a total of 2.5 MW of electricity was generated through solar energy. Over the last 6.5 years, the BJP-led government in Tripura has increased generation tenfold, to more than 20.5 MW.

Sahaj Solar would also be responsible for the commissioning of a 2 HP BLDC submersible solar water pumping system (Pump Cooling Category – Water Filled) and a 2 KWp grid-tied inverter (GTI) with interfacing devices with the SPV water pumping system. This includes a 5-year warranty/guarantee, an annual maintenance contract, and insurance coverage on a turnkey basis in Tripura under the PM-KUSUM Scheme (Component C) of the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy, Govt. of India.
