The Rewa Ultra Mega Solar Limited (RUMSL) has now issued a tender seeking developers to develop a 600 MW of solar project with battery energy storage (BESS). RUMSL, formed in 2015 is a Joint Venture between Madhya Pradesh UrjaVikas Nigam Limited (MPUVN), and Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI).

As per the tender details, RUMSL has earmarked Morena Solar Park to develop this facility. The bidders can apply for this tender upto January 20, 2025. This comes at a time when the solar plus energy storage projects are on the rise. The tender said that the bidders would need to develop two blocks of 300 MW of solar project with BESS. These projects will be ground-mounted and grid-connected.

As per RUMSL, it is developing a 1400 MW solar project in Morena district of Madhya Pradesh. The solar electricity of the project will be transmitted via state grid. Approximately 3000 ha of necessary land has been identified. Baseline survey for Morena Solar Park is being conducted with the help of World Bank.

Through this tender, the RUMSL has envisioned to get 440 MW of peak power in total during the four-hour peak period. As per the tender, the buyers of the solar power will also offer night time charging for these BESS units to ensure its timely availability during the peak hours.

RUMSL is already working towards developing a 600 MW of Omkareshwar Floating Solar Park. “RUMSL is planning to execute 600 MW floating solar project in Omkareshwar dam in Khandwa district. The World Bank (WB) will provide technical and financial assistance for the project. WB has appointed a consultant, M/s Enzen Global Solutions Pvt Ltd for prefeasibility analysis of the project. The pre feasibility analysis involves hydrographic survey, geophysical survey, topographic survey, geotechnical investigations, environmental and social screening and study of suitable marine structures for the floating Solar PV project. WB team is carrying out the surveys and collect data. Power Grid has consented as PMC for development of Internal Evacuation Infrastructure. Khandwa ISTS substation will be used as external evacuation substation,” the company claimed on its website.

It is meanwhile also working with NTPC to develop at 1500n MW of solar ark in different locations in the Chhatarpur district of Madhya Pradesh. “RUMSL and NTPC would be developing 950 MW and 550 MW capacity respectively. The solar electricity of the project will be transmitted via national grid. Approximately 3000 ha of necessary land has been identified. 1,900 ha of revenue land allotted to New and Renewable Energy department (NRED). Baseline survey for Chhatarpur Solar Park is being conducted with the help of World Bank,” it said.
