The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) in its latest revised list of Approved List of Manufacturers and Modules of Solar PV Modules (ALMM) has incorporated numerous new solar module models from eight Indian solar module manufacturers.

These included new model enlistment from Gautam Solar, Waaree Energy, Agrawal Renewable, HR Solar Solution, Sahaj Solar, Credence Solar Panels, Insolation Green Energy and Mundra Solar Energy. As per the list, Gautam Solar got two additional mono half-cut modules enlisted. Waaree Energy on the other hand received enlistment for its two additional mono-PERC and bifacial, half cut cell modules.

Similarly Agrawal Renewable received enlistment for its 22 additional modules, HR Solar Solution (1 additional module), Sahaj Solar (3 additional modules), Credence Solar (1 additional module), Insolation Green (2 additional) and Mundra Solar (2).

As per the list, ReNew comprise the highest share of enlisted capacity with 2,842 MW. It was followed by Waaree Energies (2,650 MW), Mundra (2036 MW), Vikram Solar (1287 MW), Goldi Solar (1233 MW) and Premier Energies (1,116 MW).

As per the calculation from the revised ALMM list, the total solar module manufacturing capacity under the ALMM list comes at 22,191 MW whereas as per the last ALMM list issued by the MNRE in November 2023, the total enlisted capacity stood at 22,088 MW.

MNRE implemented the ALMM scheme with an office order, first issued on March 10, 2021. Since then it has been revising the list with the inclusion of more solar module manufacturers and their models. Earlier, the MNRE had brought some reforms to streamline the segment to bring in more quality and efficiency in solar modules.

As per the reforms, the ministry declared the minimum benchmark efficiencies. Since May 10, 2023, MNRE allowed solar modules with minimum benchmark efficiencies and those above the threshold level efficiencies. The MNRE had fixed the minimum efficiency levels at 20 percent for utility-scale and grid-scale power plants, 19.5 percent for modules increased in rooftop and solar pump while the minimum efficiency for solar lightning stood at 19 percent.
