SunSource Commissions 9 MW Solar Open Access Project in UP for Varun Beverages The Rajasthan Electricity Regulatory Commission (RERC), in a suo-motu order, advised the Rajasthan government to consider declaring the Rajasthan Vidyut Utpadan Nigam (RVUNL) as the nodal agency for the development of renewable energy projects implemented by the RVUNL in the State. RVUNL is developing an 810-megawatt (MW) solar power project at Pugal in the Bikaner district. For this, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Coal India Limited and RVUNL on October 13, 2022, to set up another 1,190 MW capacity project. Six Indian States Produced Solar, Wind Energy More Than The Global Average, Says Ember Study Also Read The Commission pointed out that the Rajasthan Renewable Energy Corporation Limited (RREC) is the nodal agency for all renewable energy projects. It takes care of all activities related to RE generation in the State. Thus, all the clean energy projects of RVUNL also need a recommendation from the RREC for land allotment and water allocation power evacuation, among others. The Commission noted that the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy has also designed several Central Public Sector Utilities (PSUs) like SECI, NTPC, IREDA, and others as the implementing agencies for developing renewable energy projects at a faster rate. The order said that these CPSUs are also reaping the benefits by earning trading margins. “The Commission is of the view that in case RVUNL is designated as the Nodal Agency for the solar projects being implemented by them, the project will take place in a timely and efficient manner at a faster pace,” the order said. Andhra Leads In Country With The Highest Installed Capacity of Solar Parks Also Read It also added, “Accordingly, in order to expedite the implementation of the renewable energy projects in the State, Commission in pursuance to the functions assigned to it under Section 86(2) read with Section 86(1)(e) of the Electricity Act,2003, strongly advises the State Government to designate the Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (‘RVUNL’) as the nodal agency for the renewable energy projects being developed by them in the State.
