ReNew Power Finalises Solar Cell Units In Rajasthan & Gujarat By Saur News Bureau/ Updated On Mon, Jan 16th, 2023 Highlights : Gujarat will see the setting up of a solar cell and module manufacturing facility. The Gujarat unit will boast of a yearly capacity of 2 GW. In Rajasthan, the facility for the manufacture of solar modules will have an annual capacity worth 4 GW. Gurugram-based renewable energy firm ReNew Power is investing a sum of Rs 2,000 crore towards the establishment of module manufacturing and solar cell units in Gujarat and Rajasthan, the Chairman and Founder of Renew Power, Sumant Sinha has revealed. The firm is also looking at opportunities for investment in Uttar Pradesh while also setting sights on expanding across India. The ambition has already begun to take shape with the said Rs 2000 crore worth investment, as part of which, Gujarat will see the setting up of a solar cell and module manufacturing facility. The Gujarat unit will boast of a yearly capacity of 2 GW. In Rajasthan, the facility for the manufacture of solar modules will have an annual capacity worth 4 GW. While the Gujarat facility will be set into operation by December quarter next fiscal year, the one in Rajasthan is set to become operational by the first quarter of 2023-24. Renew Power is a subsidiary of ReNew Energy Global Plc, among the largest renewable energy independent power producers (IPPs) in the world. Recently, the firm announced the installations of India’s first ever 3x platform Wind Turbine Generators (WTG) in Gadag, Karnataka. The WTGs have a nameplate capacity of 3.3-3.465 MW and are 128-140m in height. They offer significantly improved capacity over models installed in India to date, which typically have a nameplate capacity of 2-3 MW. In another development, Norfund and KLP have announced that they will invest around Rs 900 million in partnership with ReNew Power for 49% ownership stake in ReNew’s transmission project in the Koppal district of Karnataka state in India, with ambitions for further joint investments.
